journeys at home and abroad
Bill Viola’s video work Martyrs is now installed at St Paul’s Cathedral (stills above and below). I was updating the Clips page on this blog, including an item on the links between anti-Semitism and anti-Muslim hatred in Europe when news came in of the shootings at the Jewish Museum in Brussels.
I’ve been involved with Prof John Wolffe’s work on local religious histories. He’s also looking at attitudes to death for national, ideological &/or religious causes for the Global Uncertainties programme, which includes thoughts on WWI, the IRA bombings & hunger strikes, 9/11 & 7/7, Afghanistan and the Arab Spring (let me know if you’re interested in participating).
You can see Viola’s work at St Paul’s without the normal entry fee. Monday to Saturday (short escorted visits at 11.30am & 2.15pm), first Mondays of June, July & August (1 hour viewings 6 – 7pm). Details here &/or watch the video here.
