From Croatia, now working in London, via Bosnia & Australia.
Would you believe it? My first interview back at work and I meet a wonderful person from Croatia. She worked with the Franciscan organisation St Anthony’s Bread (which now runs the Trauma Centre) in Sarajevo in 2001.
Interestingly, she was telling me something about her time there which Chris and Anjum also experienced at the memorial near our Sarajevo hotel in relation to story telling. People told complete strangers about the desperate things that had happened to their friends and families during the war, events which they had witnessed or had been forced to witness.
I hope our report will be able to highlight the very human need, which many of us recognise, to tell our stories and to be heard, especially when we have experienced overwhelming grief and trauma.
